Jordan's 2nd Birthday

Jordan had his 2nd birthday on June 8th.  It was a Sunday and so we didn't plan to do much.  In the morning after breakfast, we let him open his presents, which consisted mostly of cars, cars, and cars.  (He has to have a car in his hands at all times, preferably a McQueen car.)  He also got a Thomas the Train lego duplo set.

After church, it was 2 pm and Jordan was pretty grumpy and just wanted his nap.   So, he had a nice long nap and then we attempted the cake.  I guess he slept a little too long because he really didn't seem too interested in the cake...

Well, who wants a plain old chocolate cake?  Add a few Lightning McQueens on top and then, wallah!  All of a sudden it looks a lot better to a 2-year old:

Of course, the perfect way to end the day was to have some fun on the swings.  Jordan loves the swings and would stay on them for as long as possible.

Camping at Mantua

We had a free weekend June 7th-8th and decided to do a quick overnight camping trip up to Mantua.  It wasn't very well planned (I didn't even start packing until 3 pm) but it still turned out good for the time we had.  We brought the trailer up to Mantua in search of a campground.  Box Elder Campground was, of course, packed on a Friday night but we were able to find a spot at the RV park right next to the Mantua Reservoir which was actually quite nice.  Our spot was right next to the gate that leads right up to the reservoir so we could go back and forth from the beach to our campsite.

3 little rascals climbing the tree...
Poor Lucky!   He just did not want to go in the water
but the kids wouldn't leave him alone.   Maybe he knew...
The kids had fun roasting marshmallows Friday night and Saturday we spent a few hours at the beach.  One crazy thing, though, was that when Erika, Kyle, and Heidi came out of the water, they were just itching like crazy all over their bodies and couldn't stop.  They were miserable!!
We figured out it was "chiggers" in the sea weed they had been swimming in.   Jared and Jordan had briefly waded and splashed in the water and had only gotten a few bites on their legs.  Aaron and I hadn't gotten in at all and had none.  The bites were so awful, it looked like all 3 of them had the chicken pox!   After several washings, benadryl and anti-itch cream, and a couple weeks, the itching finally went away.  Wow!  It must be a spring thing in that lake because we all swam there last August and were just fine.  Hmmm.

Saturday morning we found out that my brother Jeremy, his wife and her parents were at Willard Bay boating and they invited us to join them.  So, we headed that direction and met up with them.   We had a great afternoon on the boat, playing in the water!!  It was the perfect weather, too!   Thanks for the great opportunity, Jeremy and family!!

Yes, I got up on the wakeboard.  It was my first time wake-boarding!
